Cittern - R.S.V.P Ceilidh Band

The cittern is an instrument of great antiquity, very popular in Shakesperes time when it was usually found in barbers shops for the use of waiting customers. Its popularity has been superseded by the guitar. Unlike the guitar the cittern is always strung with wire. Steves' cittern, made by Oakwood of Leeds, has ten strings, tuned in pairs E, D, A, D, A. This gives it the characteristic drone effect.
